10.10.2008 15:41:31 - Hope all
are having a good time reminiscing about a job well done! Thank you so
much for your sacrifices. Does anyone there remember Floyd Beyer of the 29th
Division Band? Best regards. Bruce Beyer. Canton, MI
10.10.2008 17:24:34 - God
bless you all! And thank you for your service to this great country! My uncle, Clarence Lamar Coates,
was assigned to the 29th. He died 21 June 1944 near St. Lo, and is buried at Normandy Cemetery. I never met him, but he is a
very present member of this family to this day. My children and grandchildren
know of him. He will never be forgotten. My father, his brother, Jerry A.
Coates, flew a B-17 over Germany.
Their father served in WWI. My daughter is an Army Aviator, and my nephew is an
Army veteran. We are a military family, but more than that, we appreciate so
much those who served before us who made it possible to live as we live today,
and follow the example you set that for every freedom we enjoy, we have a
responsibility to ensure that freedom is available for future generations. Thank
you for sharing your photos and memories. Jerrie Coates Sanders. Russellville, Arkansas

namesake of Hyman Julius Small who died during the fiercest fighting of the
Hedge Groves after D-day; he was with the 175th Regiment. His brother, my
father, gave me his name to keep it alive since I was the first male child born
after WWII. My father just died on May 26 at age 91 and was the last of his
family. I have inherited Hy’s Purple Heart and am so proud to have it and hold
it in high honor. Perchance there is anyone who is still alive who would have
known my uncle or anything about Tech Sgt Hyman J. Small, I would love to hear
from them. Many thanks for the link you are keeping alive so we never forget
the sacrifices that have been made for us. Sincerely. Hy Small. Greenville
